![]() Musical DirectorLinda Horowitz![]() Her debut followed at the Alte Oper opera house in Frankfurt with the public orchestra of the Frankfurt-based Bach Concert Association, with which she also made guest appearances abroad. In 1987, she became the first woman to assume the position of choir conductor in Germany at the Theater of the City of Heidelberg, and was subsequently appointed conductor at the State Theater in Kassel. Linda Horowitz originally conducted the GACC e.V. from 1989 through 1992. In 1998, she once again became the choir's Musical Director. Linda Horowitz has taught at the Akademie fÜr Tonkunst music school in Darmstadt since 1993. Moreover, she has worked as a guest lecturer at the Hochschule fÜr Musik music academy in Detmold and also accepted a guest professorship at Scripps women's college in Claremont, California/USA. Linda Horowitz produces radio and CD recordings, acts as juror at orchestra and choir competitions and conducts symphony concerts and opera gala. She has received particular mention in two books published in 2002: "Dirigentinnen des 20. Jahrhunderts" (Female Conductors of the 20th Century) by Elke Mascha Blankenburg and the "Europäische Dirigentinnen Reader", (European Reader of Female Conductors) Volume 4 in the "Frau und Musik" (Women and Music) series of writings. Under the musical direction of Linda Horowitz an exceptional German-Vietnamese musical event took place in April 2007. It is thanks to her outstanding work and dedication that Haydn's "Creation" was successfully performed in both Hanoi and Saigon with close to 200 musicians and singers from widely differing cultural backgrounds. |
